U.P. Government says Dress Code to be made mandatory in all State colleges, universities
Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has mandated a uniform dress code for students across all state universities and colleges. The Governor, who serves as the Chancellor of all state universities, issued these directives during a recent review meeting held at Jan Bhavan.
While an official government order is yet to be formally released, UP Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay confirmed that compliance with the new dress code will be made mandatory.
"The student community is a homogeneous group where no form of discrimination or social hierarchy should be visible. Social and economic inequalities are often reflected through clothing, which can create feelings of inferiority among some students," Minister Upadhyay explained. He emphasized that the dress code will help address these disparities, ensuring all students study in an equal, value-based, and disciplined environment.
The move has also been welcomed by Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, who stated that such disciplinary measures are firmly in the interest of the students.
