Odisha: Mandatory Participation of School Teachers & Staff in Census 2027 (Letter No: 11118 | Date: 30.04.2026)

 The first phase of Census 2027 is currently underway in the State and is scheduled to be finished by May 15, 2026. Census duties are considered statutory functions under the Census Act of 1948 and the Census Rules of 1990.

  The government noted that some private school authorities have been preventing their staff and teachers from performing their duties as Enumerators and Supervisors.

District Education Officers are requested to instruct both Government and Private schools to ensure -

All staff appointed for Census duties are relieved to finish their tasks within the required timeline.

No staff member or teacher is restricted from these duties for any reason
