New Delhi: The Central Income Tax Department has announced the commencement of the online filing process for Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the financial year 2025-26. As per the latest update on Bikki News, the online portal has been activated for taxpayers starting May 15, 2026.
Taxpayers under Category 1 and others eligible to file standard returns have until July 31, 2026 to submit their income tax returns without incurring late fees. For individuals, HUFs, and firms (other than LLP) opting for the presumptive taxation scheme and filing ITR-4, the deadline has been extended up to August 31, 2026.
Taxpayers are urged to complete their filings well before the respective deadlines to avoid last-minute portal congestion and potential penalties.
How to File:
Eligible taxpayers can submit their returns online through the official Income Tax e-filing portal: https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
