Telangana Govt Considers Offline 'Special TET 2026' for In-Service Teachers

The Telangana Education Department is actively exploring the possibility of conducting a Special Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 exclusively for in-service teachers. In a significant development, Education Secretary Yogita Rana has officially directed the School Education Department to examine the feasibility and regulatory frameworks required to hold this special exam in an offline, pen-and-paper mode.

This move comes in the wake of a recent Supreme Court ruling that made qualifying the TET mandatory for all in-service teachers to retain their positions and be eligible for promotions.

Following the apex court's directive, a massive wave of employed teachers has been actively participating in the TET examinations. While more than half of the working teachers in the state have already successfully cleared the test, a substantial number of in-service educators are currently applying in bulk under the ongoing regular TET notification.

If approved, this dedicated offline Special TET will provide a streamlined and accessible opportunity for the remaining in-service teachers to fulfill their mandatory eligibility requirements without the added pressure of a computer-based testing environment.
