Repeal of the Act: The Odisha State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment Act, 2000, which mandated the tax collection, has been officially repealed.
Effective Date: The repeal comes into effect from April 1, 2026, following the introduction of the Odisha State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employment (Repeal) Ordinance, 2026.
Halt on Salary Deductions: The government has explicitly requested all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) to immediately discontinue the deduction of the Tax on Profession from the salaries of employees starting from April 2026 onwards.
