In a major development in Rajasthan’s education sector, the
RSS-affiliated Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) has
declared a massive statewide protest against the Rajasthan state
government. The agitation stems from the alleged “dictatorial attitude”
of senior Education Department officials and the government’s failure to
address pressing, long-standing issues faced by the state’s teaching
staff. Despite continuous dialogue since the current government took
power, the lack of resolution has fueled widespread frustration among
lakhs of educators, prompting the ABRSM to launch a phased, statewide
campaign.
The ABRSM has
outlined a comprehensive list of demands and highlighted several
departmental decisions that are negatively impacting both educators and
the academic environment:
-
A major point of contention is
the recent reduction of summer vacations for state primary and secondary
schools to just 35 days. The union points out the disparity, noting
that higher education receives 60 days, Kendriya Vidyalayas receive 61
days, and Navodaya Vidyalayas get 56 days. -
The
organization is demanding the immediate transfer of all teacher
categories, specifically highlighting the plight of third-grade teachers
who have been waiting for transfers for the past eight years. They are
also demanding prompt promotion opportunities, which are currently
described as “negligible.” -
Teachers are reportedly being
overburdened with non-academic duties, detracting from classroom time.
Despite official orders limiting census participation to 30% of staff,
local authorities are allegedly deploying entire school staffs,
including those from single-teacher schools, and forcing them to
complete online tasks without providing necessary devices like tablets
or computers. -
Demands include removing salary
discrepancies for third-grade teachers and instructors, issuing
financial approvals for posts in schools upgraded since 2019, and the
immediate regularisation of contract teachers. -
The union is pressing for the smooth and efficient implementation of the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS).
Important Dates for the Protest Schedule
To escalate their demands, the ABRSM has released a structured timeline for their agitation:
